Rabbit Hole added an incredible level of skill and artistry into the Coldplay Timeline. It’s become a living, breathing resource for telling the story of the band and a testament to our incredible fans”
Phil Harvey, Coldplay's Creative Director

The Coldplay Timeline is a digital, living history of the band from their very first rehearsal through to the present day. It contains exclusive behind-the-scenes videos, interviews, handwritten notes, and rare photography from the group.

Fans are invited to become part of the story by uploading their images and ‘memories’ of the music and live shows. So far, the site has collected over 34,000 memories from 72 countries.

Our challenge was to develop a new visual identity for the website that felt fresh whilst still feeling quintessentially Coldplay. We designed a new visual language with bright colour gradients, animated butterflies, and a modern serif typeface (Mrs Eaves). Each element was a subtle yet familiar nod to the band’s past album artworks.

Few bands have managed to document such a long career in so much detail online. Twenty years on from their first rehearsal, the Timeline has become vital resource for fans—a unique insight into the on-going history of one of the world’s biggest bands.

In 2019 the project won a Webby Award in the category of Best Music Website.
